Pictures)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>They&#8217;ll be extending the trophy cabinet at Framestore this morning after Gravity scooped the Best Visual Effects award as well as a clutch of other Oscars, including Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and the Best Directing award. The Best Picture award went to <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/best-picture\/12-years-a-slave\" target=\"_blank\">12 Years a Slave.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Framestore&#8217;s VFX work on <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/visual-effects\/gravity \" target=\"_blank\">Gravity<\/a> won over strong contenders from <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/visual-effects\/the-hobbit-the-desolation-of-smaug\" target=\"_blank\">The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/visual-effects\/iron-man-3\" target=\"_blank\">Iron Man 3<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/visual-effects\/the-lone-ranger\" target=\"_blank\">The Lone Ranger<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/visual-effects\/star-trek-into-darkness\" target=\"_blank\">Star Trek Into Darkness<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Oscar joins a growing pile of other awards for the sci-fi drama, including <a href=\"https:\/\/firedbydesign.com\/8844\/framestore-mill-spin-disney-mpc-win-acclaim-12th-ves-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\">six VES awards last month<\/a>, including the top prize, Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture.<\/p>\n<p>Disney&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/animated-feature-film\/frozen\">Frozen<\/a> won best animated feature film, scooping the prize over <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/animated-feature-film\/the-croods\" target=\"_blank\">The Croods<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/animated-feature-film\/despicable-me-2\" target=\"_blank\">Despicable Me 2<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/animated-feature-film\/ernest-and-celestine\" target=\"_blank\">Ernest &amp; Celestine<\/a>, and Hayao Miyazaki&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/animated-feature-film\/the-wind-rises\" target=\"_blank\">The Wind Rises<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Best Animated Short Film award went to Laurent Witz and Alexandre Espigares for <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/short-film-animated\/mr-hublot\" target=\"_blank\">Mr. Hublot<\/a>, with runners up including <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/short-film-animated\/feral\" target=\"_blank\">Feral<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/short-film-animated\/get-a-horse\" target=\"_blank\">Get a Horse!<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/short-film-animated\/possessions\">Possessions<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/oscar.go.com\/nominees\/short-film-animated\/room-on-the-broom\" target=\"_blank\">Room on the Broom<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2014\/mar\/03\/oscars-2014-visual-effects-workers-protest\" target=\"_blank\">The Guardian<\/a> reported that in a repeat of the demonstration against the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mpaa.org\" target=\"_blank\">MPAA<\/a>, with a focus on Life of Pi, around 540 VFX workers used the Oscars to highlight their protest in Los Angeles.
